MINO to supply Six-High Finishing Rolling Mill for Boway’s new plant in Morocco

Ningbo Boway Alloy Material Co., Ltd. has announced a major investment of USD 150 million for the construction of a new production facility in Morocco, reinforcing its global expansion strategy and supporting the country’s growing role as a strategic industrial hub bridging Europe, Africa and the Americas.

The new plant, to be operated by Boway Alloy New Materials (Morocco), will be located in the Nador Port area and will cover a total surface of approximately 188,000 m². The facility is designed for an annual production capacity of up to 30,000 tons of high-performance non-ferrous alloy strips, serving key applications such as electric batteries, transformers, cable shielding and heating resistors. The production will be primarily dedicated to the European and American markets, where demand for advanced copper alloy solutions continues to grow steadily.

Within this important industrial project, MINO has been selected as the supplier of a Six-High Finishing Rolling Mill, specifically designed for the production of thin gauge copper and copper alloy strips.

This latest cold rolling mill to be supplied by MINO is the third one awarded by Boway in the last years, thus consolidating the long-standing cooperation between MINO and Boway and confirming MINO’s position as a global technology leader in non-ferrous rolling mills.

This latest Six-High Finishing Rolling Mill will be of state-of-the-art design and will be equipped with the advanced AVANTITM Technological Control System, ensuring exceptional strip flatness and precise thickness control, even at high rolling speeds and tight tolerances.

All core engineering activities – including mechanical design, hydraulic systems, process know-how, software and automation – will be entirely developed in Italy, leveraging MINO’s extensive expertise in the rolling of copper and copper alloys.

The mill configuration has been specifically optimized for high-quality, demanding applications, integrating dedicated solutions for thin gauge rolling. In addition, the installation will feature an advanced oil removal system, capable of delivering perfectly dry strip surfaces even under high rolling rates, thus ensuring superior product quality and downstream process efficiency.

With this project, MINO continues to support its customers worldwide with innovative, high-performance rolling technologies, contributing to the development of next-generation materials for critical industrial applications.
