MINO Six-High Reversing Intermediate Finishing Mill Successfully Passes Final Acceptance Tests at Ningbo Jintian Copper

MINO Six-High Reversing Intermediate Finishing Mill

MINO is pleased to announce the successful completion of the Final Acceptance Tests of a new Six-High Reversing Intermediate Finishing Mill supplied to Ningbo Jintian Copper (Group) Co., Ltd. at its production facility in Ningbo, China.

Designed for the production of high-precision copper and copper-alloy strip, the new mill is capable of processing strip up to 650 mm wide, with an entry thickness of up to 3 mm and a minimum exit thickness of 0.10 mm.

During the acceptance tests, the mill successfully met all contractual performance requirements. In particular, the achieved thickness and flatness performance exceeded the guaranteed contractual values, confirming the high level of process control and mechanical precision achieved by the MINO solution.

This is the third rolling mill successfully commissioned by MINO at Ningbo Jintian, further strengthening a long-standing cooperation between the two companies. The partnership is also set to continue with additional MINO equipment currently under construction and installation.

A Long-Standing Partnership in Copper Rolling

MINO’s cooperation with Ningbo Jintian began in 2015, when Jintian awarded MINO the contract for a Six-High Reversing Finishing Mill designed to produce thin copper and copper-alloy strip down to a minimum thickness of 35 microns on widths up to 450 mm.

Following the successful completion of this project, in 2018 Ningbo Jintian selected MINO once again for the supply of a new Six-High Finishing Mill for copper and copper alloys. This second mill was designed for 650 mm wide strip and further expanded the production capabilities of the Ningbo facility.

In 2024, the cooperation was further extended with the award of two new Intermediate Cold Rolling Mills, one for 650 mm wide strip and one for 450 mm wide strip. The 650 mm mill has now successfully completed its Final Acceptance Tests, while the 450 mm mill is currently being installed and is scheduled for commissioning shortly.

MINO is also proceeding with the manufacturing and pre-assembly of a new Four-High Reversing Roughing Mill for 450 mm wide copper and copper-alloy strip. The mill is scheduled for delivery to Ningbo Jintian by the end of 2026.

Once the roughing mill is commissioned, the production route for 450 mm thin strip at Ningbo Jintian will be fully covered by MINO equipment, from roughing through intermediate rolling to finishing rolling. This integrated rolling route will allow Jintian to benefit from MINO’s expertise and technological continuity across the different stages of the process.

Continued Development Through Cooperation

The successful completion of the latest Final Acceptance Tests represents another important milestone in the cooperation between MINO and Ningbo Jintian.

Over more than a decade of collaboration, the two companies have developed a strong technical partnership based on continuous cooperation, mutual trust and the exchange of experience in the field of high-precision copper and copper-alloy rolling.

The repeated selection of MINO for new rolling mill projects reflects Ningbo Jintian’s confidence in MINO’s technology, engineering capabilities and experience in the development of advanced rolling solutions for copper and copper alloys.
