Breaking News: Huafon chooses MINO once more for its new Aluminium Cold Rolling Mills! Two cutting-edge VI-High Cold Mills awarded to MINO

MINO is proud to announce that it has been awarded two new prestigious Contracts by Huafon Group for the supply of one state-of-the-art VI-High Cold Rolling Mill and one cutting-edge VI-High Cold Tandem Mill for rolling large array of aluminium alloys for diverse industrial applications.

Founded in 1991 and headquartered in Ruian, Zhejiang Province, Huafon Group is today one of the largest Chinese private manufacturing enterprises, with a strong global footprint across chemicals, materials, and aluminium processing industries. The Group’s dynamic expansion in the field of advanced aluminium products is part of its commitment to innovation and high-performance materials for industries including automotive, aerospace, and electronics.

The partnership between Huafon and MINO marks a significant milestone, as Huafon’s decision to entrust MINO once again reflects a strong mutual confidence built on technical excellence, innovation, and performance –  a relationship that has continued successfully since the first supply of a MINO Mill to Huafon in 2015.

The two new VI-High Cold Millsa single-stand Cold Rolling Mill and a Cold Tandem Mill — represent the pinnacle of MINO’s advanced technology, specifically tailored for high-quality aluminium rolling.

Key Highlights of the Project:

  • Both Cold Mills are equipped with advanced roll shifting systems coupled with spray bars and shapemeter rolls for ultimate control of strip profile and flatness, notwithstanding changes in rolled strip width & thickness.
  • A high-precision interstand cooling tunnel, ensuring the correct temperature drop between successive reductions, critical for achieving proper metallurgical grades and superior strip quality.
  • The Cold Mills feature a full coil recirculation system, operating in synergy with an automatic crane and a horizontal storage system, to optimize production flow and minimize manual intervention.
  • The entire system has been designed for maximum efficiency and minimum spare parts requirements, ensuring reduced maintenance costs over the long term.
  • Each of the three stands of the Cold Mills are powered by massive 6,200 kW motors, specifically engineered to be switchable between the two Cold Mills, to ensure the highest operational and maintenance flexibility, combined with energy optimization.

When the two Cold Mills will be installed and running, Huafon will dramatically increase its production capabilities in the high-end aluminium sector, ensuring tight thickness tolerances, superior strip flatness and optimized surface quality — all essential features for meeting the growing demands of lightweighting and high-performance applications.

Both Cold Mills will be manufactured and pre-assembled in the two MINO’s workshops: the Alessandria (Italy) one for the most critical equipment, and the Tianjin (China) one for the heavier parts.

Such a production organization is the result of a forty-year experience in manufacturing Rolling Mills partly in Italy and partly in China, allowing to deliver world-class, high-precision equipment.

This new double-contract award is yet another strong endorsement of MINO’s expertise in the design and manufacturing of VI-High Cold Mills for aluminium and confirms MINO’s position as a leading technology supplier to the world’s top aluminium producers.
