MINO is proud to announce that it has been awarded one new prestigious Contract by Aluminium Company of Egypt (Egyptalum) for a complete revamping and upgrade of the existing IV-High Cold Rolling Mill located at Nag Hammady, some 100 kilometres north from Luxor.

Founded in 1969 at Nag’ a Hammady, on the banks of the River Nile in southern Egypt, the company Egyptalum is today one of the largest aluminium producers in the African continent.
The port of Safaga, adjacent to the Plant, receive incoming raw materials such as alumina and green coal. The Plant consist of a primary smelter unit equipped with cast facilities. Slabs are then hot rolled and further cold rolled. Other sector of the facility consists of Extrusion and Anode Plants.
Egyptalum currently produces around 320.000 tons per year of various aluminium products in form of Slabs, Coils, Billets, Ingots, Wire Rods and Extrusion Profiles. These Products are distributed in both local and foreign markets.
The Cold Rolling Mill’s revamping is aimed producing, among others, can stock coils and end products for foil and packaging applications. This will contribute to meeting the demands of the local market and expanding into export markets for rolled and foil products.
The revamping of the single-stand IV High Cold Rolling Mill represents the pinnacle of MINO’s advanced technology, specifically tailored for high-quality aluminium rolling.
Key Highlights of the Project:
- New Main Drives and new more powerful A.C. Motors to increase the yearly productivity to 77.000 tons/year.
- New Pay Off and Tension Reels.
- New AGC Cylinders, new Selective Spray Bars, new X-Ray Thickness Gauges, new Shapemeter Roll for ultimate control of strip thickness and flatness.
- New Technological Control System for AGC and AFC.
- New Entry Equipment with Side Trimmer and Scrap Chopper.
- New Exit Equipment.
- New Coil Preparation Station.
