MINO Process Control is pleased to announce that its Technological Control System (TCS) is now available on the latest Siemens S7-1500 platform.
The MINO TCS process control system is responsible for the thickness control (AGC) and flatness control (AFC) of the rolling mill. It is applied to all configurations of rolling mills — from hot mills, cold mills, to foil mills — for aluminium, copper, and steel flat products rolling.
The S7-1500 replaces the SIMATIC TDC platform, which MINO has used for the past 20 years. It uses TIA Portal V20 as the programming and engineering tool, making the AGC and AFC software easily accessible to plant technicians familiar with the Siemens range of automation products.
Whilst the platform has changed, the core functionality of the control software remains the same, with an extensive suite of features that ensures all aspects of rolling mill control perform at an optimum level. The Operator’s HMI and Engineering Diagnostics HMI features are retained, along with built-in data logging for production reporting and in-depth process analysis.
We are excited to be installing the first of these next-generation S7-1500 based TCS systems at a customer’s plant in July 2025. This will form the basis of all future TCS installations, both for new MINO mills and for revamp and upgrade projects.
Alongside this, MINO continues to prioritise support and maintenance for the 80+ TCS systems currently in active operation at our customers’ plants around the world.
