MINO SpA is proud to announce the award by Ningbo Jintian Copper (Group) Co., Ltd. of one more contract for the supply of a new Four-High Reversing Roughing Mill for copper and copper alloys. The advanced rolling mill will be installed in the main plant owned by Jintian Copper in Ningbo.
This further repeat-order by Jintian Copper to MINO confirms the solid partnership established between the two companies in the last decade. Jintian has already ordered to MINO other four mills (two finishing mills and two intermediate mills). With this new order, the whole process of roughing rolling, intermediate rolling and finishing rolling, from 16 mm down to 30 microns, is now completely handled by MINO mills, which guarantees the overall and integrated control of the various technological parameters of the rolling process at each rolling step.
The roughing mill is designed to process both soft and hard copper alloys, reducing strip thickness from 16 mm down to 0.5 mm, with a maximum strip width of 450 mm. Key features include:
- A dedicated unwinding group suitable for a wide range of incoming coil diameters
- Two big wheels to wind thicker strips (down to approx. 6–5 mm) avoiding undue stress on wound strip and the appearance of cracks
- Two tension reels ensuring stable rolling operations
- Four high mill stand characterized by high rolling force and high rolling torque, suitable to process the hardest materials at maximum entry thickness
At the core of the design is MINO’s expertise in roughing rolling technology. This process demands both high stand stiffness and robust equipment, and also requiring flexible mechanical actuators to guarantee excellent strip flatness and surface quality. Through decades of successful projects worldwide, MINO’s proven design has consistently achieved this delicate balance.
With over 70 years of experience in the field of copper rolling, MINO has established itself as a leader in copper roughing rolling technology, designing, manufacturing, and commissioning mills ranging from 450 mm up to 1250 mm strip width, available in both reversible single-stand and non-reversing tandem configurations.
The mill’s automation system will also be developed by MINO and will feature the state-of-the-art “AVANTI” AGC system, supplied by its daughter company “MINO Process Control UK”. This cutting-edge solution provides precise thickness tolerance control, ensuring superior product quality and strengthening MINO’s position as a global leader in rolling technology for copper and copper alloys.
This mill allows MINO to achieve a new record: it is the 33rd cold rolling mill for copper and copper alloys supplied by MINO to the Chinese market since 2011!
